Recently released data from Global Web Index on the social networks growth trends as shown an interesting change. At the beginning of 2014 the social network with the fastest growing was Instagram, today the situation is somewhat different. New figures released by Global Web Index see a large increase in traffic to the social media networks Tumblr and Pinterest.
Growth in Members & active users
In the last six months new user sign ups to Tumblr users grew by 120% while the photo sharing site Pinterest has shown visitor growth of 111%, important figures, especially when compared to the growth of Facebook over the last six months which has seen an increase of only 2%, although this is quite understandable considering most people already have a Facebook account.
The social network trailing in third position in the global rankings compiled by Global Web Index is occupied by Instagram, followed in turn by LinkedIn, Twitter, Youtube, Google and Facebook. The mobile applications market sees instead Snapchat in pole position registering a growth of an amazing 56%, followed by Facebook Messenger and Instagram. Out of the podium are then Line, Pinterest, Kakao Talk and Vine (the video sharing app).
Despite the new data provided by Global Web Index, which highlight the excellent growth by Tumblr and Pinterest, Facebook is the social network with the largest number of active users in the world.
