SEOPressor Plugin : Awesome SEO Tool or Evil Google Slap Magnet?

SEOPressor Plugin for WordPress can bring google Penalty, Exercise Caution.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve used SEOPressor Plugin for quite a long time – it’s a brilliant seo plugin for wordpress that can greatly help your onpage SEO. It is a wonderful guide / reminder of what SEO elements your page has, or is lacking, but there are also a lot of things that the SEOpressor plugin does not do.

This article is a result of a conversation I had with a client. He was wondering why his site that he has been using the SEOPressor plugin on isn’t ranking as good as promised.

I told him that no seo plugin can do all the SEO needed for a site to be successful. It is important that they account for a lot of other areas. It’s also important that they don’t over-optimize. It is VERY easy for a newbie at SEO to get their site de-indexed from google by simply using a plugin like SEOPressor and going for a very high keyword density. This is a practice called keyword stuffing and is VERY looked down upon by Google.

Another reason that the SEOpressor plugin doesn’t do well is that it ONLY focuses on content inside the wordpress edit screen. It ignores metatags, the title tag, and other text in the header, sidebar, and footer.

What does the SEOPressor Plugin do?

The SEOPressor plugin basically lets you choose a keyword phrase in the box below your article, then you click save draft. Once the post reloads the SEO plugin will give you a list of all the things you need to do to increase your keyword density. The plugin will tell you that you need your keyword in an H1, H2, H3, Bold, Italics, and Underline, and Image alt tags. It will even automatically underline, bold, and add italics to your keyword throughout the post.

These are all very important items, and ones that the SEOPressor plugin does very well. What it doesn’t tell you is that too many repetitions of a keyword can and WILL get you banned from google. One good method of getting around this is to use LSI keywords, or latent semantic indexing. Basically these are semantically related keywords, or synonymns.

Personally, I have the best results if I aim for about a 1.5-2.0 keyword density, then I will switch to a similar phrase and strive to get a 1.3-1.6 keyword density.

Where the SEOPressor Plugin for WordPress Cannot Do

The list below outlines just a few of the things that the SEOPressor Plugin fails to accomplish.

  • Does not count keyword in Main Article Headline or Title – this is usually the H1 tag.
  • The blog posts’ Title Tag which shows up in the actual Google Serps
  • SEOSiloing, and Creating a Good SEO Structure.
  • Metakeywords, and Metadescription Tags.
  • Image File Names used inside the blog post.
  • Relevent Internal Links, also called Cross-linking.
  • Good keyword placement aka Keyword Prominence and Proximity.

To get ranked high, you need to focus on all of these items as well on top of the ones that the SEOPressor Plugin does take care of. These are all vital to your Successful SEO Practices.

When doing on-page optimization it is very important to remember to not rely one the SEOPressor Plugin to do everything by itself. It is only one tool, not the be-all-end-all for On-Page SEO. There are many other important ranking factors that are very important as well.

Google has changed a lot since the Panda and Penguin updates and has grown up beyond just using keyword density percentages. It’s still important, but it’s also important to build social signals, and to ensure that you have quality human-readable content, and that you absolutely do NOT use keyword stuffing techniques. It’s also very important to work in synonymns when possible.

How to interpret this post: Search engines are looking for quality readable content that matches what the user is really searching for. If your content is made to get ranked, Google will find out, and will hit you with a penalty, it’s not a matter of if, but when.

Most bloggers who misuse SEO Pressor are constantly looking for the perfect SEOPressor Plugin Score. Repeating a keyword does show google that it is important to the content on the page, basically symbolizing the basic topic the page is about so that Google can decide when to show that page in search results and to compare it with other similar pages. However it becomes a problem when you use the same keyword phrase 44 times on the same page, just to increase your SEOPressor Plugin SEO Score. Using tactics like that will surely get you a penalty from Google.

The point of Panda and Penguin : Google is only successful, if people use it to search. If results aren’t relevent, then people will stop using Google, and their bottom line will suffer. Google knows the tell-tale signs of manipulation, if your page sounds robotic, or cookie cutter, Google will know, and will choose a different site for page 1 rankings.

According to Google Webmaster Guidelines :

“Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings – Webmasteers who spend their energies upholding the spirit of the basic principles will provide a much better user experience, and subsequently enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit.”

Google also suggest that you always ask the questions : “Does this help my users? Is this the best article for the topic ?”

Google’s panda and penguin updates have one clear mission: to reduce the rankings of low-quality sites, which have low-value for their users. Google has software in place to even tell if your content is readable by humans, if you’re hiring non-english speakers to write content, you better proof-read it to make sure it’s written with very good English grammar.

If your post sounds like a robot wrote it, then you better change something before posting it, that’s really the key take-a-way here.

The main point of this article is to make sure that you know that there are many factors and elements for ranking that you need to focus on besides just making sure that the primary keyword phrase has a good SEOPressor Plugin SEO Score.

Remember to use semantically relevent keywords and keyword synonymns to create more natural flow, and better quality content. This will also help you to build long-tail keywords which will help you target people who might be looking for something more specific.

Also remember not to worry too much about keyword density, and to definitely not get banned for keyword stuffing. I’d also recommend that you use Google’s External Keyword Research Tool to find keyword phrases that are not over-optimized by your competitors, but still frequently used.

Now, I know I mentioned all the reasons why you should NOT use the SEOPressor Plugin, but really, I don’t hate the plugin, the fact is I use the SEOPressor Plugin on all my sites, I would highly recommend that you use it as well. JUST don’t only focus on what the tool tells you to do, do your own research and know WHY you are doing the things you’re doing, don’t just trust the programmer of SEOPressor to know all the ins-and-outs of Google.

SEOPressor Plugin Tool Closing Remarks:

If you want your site to be found at the top of search engine results pages(SERPS), then keyword research is extremely important, as is proper onsite seo, and proper use / placement of those keywords. The keywords you choose to target will have a huge impact on the actual positioning of your site in the search engines.

If you already own, or are looking to own the SEOPressor Plugin, I am totally not an anti-seopressor person, I’m a huge fan of the seo software actually. I’m just trying to express in very strong words that it must be used in moderation, and as an advisory tool. You still need to focus on other search engine optimization factors that the SEOPressor plugin cannot accomplish.

High Rankings in the search engines are a result of a very complex combination of factors and changes frequently. Being on top of the changes is very hard for someone not in the industry, I highly recommend you find a top seo firm to help you navigate these confusing waters.
